Tetrasodium pyrophosphate or is a colorless sodium salt of pyrophosphoric acid. It belongs to the diphosphates and has the empirical formula Na4P2O7. The name is sometimes used instead of diphosphate tetrasodium diphosphate. Diphosphates are also parts of organic compounds such as the Adenosindiphosphats. As a food additive tetrasodium is called E 450c.

Use

Add detergent and dishwashing detergent and toothpaste as an emulsifier of fats and oils and water softener, in baking powders, in cheese preparation. It is also used to stabilize hydrogen peroxide.
