Thales (crater)

Thales is an impact crater in the northeast of the Moon front page. He lies to the west of the crater Strabo and nordwesetlich Wall level De La Rue (crater ). The crater is deep and slightly eroded.

1892 transient phenomena were observed by Edward Barnard on the crater Thales. Barnard reported that he had on 31 March 1892, when the crater was near the terminator, observed a pronounced haze inside and above the crater rim.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek philosopher and astronomer Thales of Miletus.
