Thamnobryum alopecurum

Thamnobryum is a subkosmopolitisch widespread genus of mosses of the family Neckeraceae.

Features

The plants have a showy tree- like growth habit: you have a crawling on the floor Main shoot. From this stems rise high that branch out at some height. The branches and Seitenästchen are arranged in one plane. The plants often grow in waters on earth and rock.

Systematics and species

Thamnobryum has traditionally been performed along with several other genera in the family Thamnobryaceae; this in turn was part of the order Neckerales. Based on recent research, the order Neckerales was eliminated and incorporated into Hypnales; as the former genera of Thamnobryaceae are now assigned to the Neckeraceae family.

  • Foxtail Moos ( Thamnobryum alopecurum )
  • Thamnobryum neckeroides, rare in Europe
  • Thamnobryum subserratum, found recently in Austria / Carinthia
