Thanasis Veggos

Thanasis Vengos (Greek Θανάσης Βέγγος, transkr also Thanasis Veggos or Thanassis Vengos; . * May 29, 1927 in Neo Faliro, Piraeus; † 3 May, 2011 Athens ) was a Greek actor and director. As an actor, he starred in over 120 films, mostly comedies of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. He was awarded the Order of the Phoenix of the Hellenic Republic.

Life

Thanasis Vengos debuted in 1952. He received his first starring role in Psila ta heria Hitler ( hands up, Hitler ') from the year 1962.

He often played simple characters who struggled to make ends meet ', but also anti-heroes, pure dramas and appeared on stage in comedies of Aristophanes. In his films, he was simply called Thanasis. He worked frequently with director Giorgos Lazaridis. In 2004, a documentary about his life was released ( A man for all seasons). He has always played his roles without stuntmen and even at dangerous stunts such as hanging on a rope from a balcony, or running through glass doors. During the " Golden Sixties" of the Greek film industry he made the most famous of his films, such as the series secret agent 000, Papatrehas, A crazy Veggos and many others. Most of them were from his own company Θ - Β comedy films ( tainies Geliou, movies laugh ) produced.

Vengos was married and had two children.
