That Lucky Old Sun (A Narrative ) is a concept album by Brian Wilson, which premiered on September 10, 2007 in London at the Royal Festival Hall. Five other concerts also followed in London, plus he joined with ribbon on in Manchester. Similar to its Smile tour the band was supported this time by the Stockholm Strings And Horns.

The album was released on 29 August 2008 by Capitol Records as CD and vinyl.

That Lucky Old Sun

The work consists of normal songs and spoken passages, which are drawn musical. The compositions are by Brian Wilson and his bandmates Scott Bennett. The stories, which interrupt the music were written by Van Dyke Parks.

Wilson wants to return to its roots with this work - to Capitol Records had their most successful period in the 1960s when The Beach Boys. The album was released on CD, DVD and vinyl.

" That Lucky Old Sun" reached number # 21 in the U.S. Billboard album charts and rank # 37 in England.

The album as a live performance

In September 2007, Lucky Old Sun, was the occasion of the reopening of the Royal Festival Hall, premiered. For a better accompaniment to the music a stage show was conceived, showing on a canvas photo from earlier days of the Beach Boys history.

In January 2008, Brian Wilson turned his band in front of the suite in Australia. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive.

Criticism

In the English media the premiere of the work was very positive, almost exuberant, recorded and first reactions to his works Pet Sounds and Smile ( see Brian Wilson presents Smile) on an equal footing. ,.
