The Academy Is ... was founded in 2002, American alternative rock band from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

Band History

The beginnings

In 2002, the singer William Beckett and guitarist Michael Carden came together for the first time. The bassist Adam T. Siska, the second guitarist Adrian LaTrace Jr. and drummer Mike DelPrincipe they brought before the recordings of the first Extended Plays (EP) called The Academy, which was published on 23 March 2004, to do so. This appeared in the Chicago label LLR Recordings, previously published already Williams solo project Remember Maine with the album The Last Place You Look in 2002. The EP was recorded in Villa Park, Illinois in the Studio The Gallery Of Carpet with producers Brian Zieske, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, who was very fond of the music of the band and invited them to his record label Fueled By Ramen, where they then signed a record deal.

At the release of the first EP was called the Band The Academy, but there was trouble with other established bands that were called as well, they hung another ... Is it and then called themselves The Academy Is ....

Almost Here

In 2004 the band moved to Florida, where they were to record their first album under the label Fueled By Ramen called Almost Here. After the recordings, and a summer tour changed the members of the band. Tom Conrad, who had previously played with a local band from Chicago called 504 plan, Adrian LaTrace Jr. replaced as second guitarist and backing vocal singers. Andy Mrotek, previously drummer in Last Place Champs, replaced Mike DelPrincipe.

Was released the album on 8 February 2005 and debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Independent Album Charts. The following summer, the band embarked on their first headlining tour with Plain White T's, Days Away and June.

Incidentally graduated singer William Beckett a few guest appearances, among others in the music video A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More ' Touch Me' by Fall Out Boy, where he played a vampire leader. William borrowed Sophmore Slump Or Comeback song Of The Year from the Fall Out Boy album From Under the Cork Tree his voice. In addition, he sang and played in the video Bring It ( Snakes on a Plane ) by Cobra Starship on the side of Gabe Saporta (Cobra Starship ), Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes ), and Maja Ivarsson ( The Sounds ). Premiered the music video in August 2006. The song was next to Black Mamba by The Academy Is ... on the soundtrack of the film Snakes on a Plane.

In a blog on her official website on 26 October 2006 the band announced that Tom Conrad was no longer a member of the band, Tom later wrote on his website that he has finished with this band. He was replaced by guitarist Michael Guy Chislett the new.

Santi

During the Warped Tour 2006, the band, new lyrics writing for their second album Santi began. After completion of this tour, the band flew to Los Angeles to finish the album. It was published on 3 April 2007 and rose with 33,000 copies sold in its first week at number 32 on the Billboard Top 200. In England, the album reached number 94 in the summer of 2007 the band went with Fall Out Boy, 44, Cobra Starship and Paul Wall on the Honda Civic Tour, followed by more touring with Cobra Starship in Australia and Singapore. Your second headlining tour Sleeping With Giants with The Rocket Summer, Armor For Sleep and Sherwood led the band between September 5, 2007 to November 24, 2007 again by the United States. The time between concerts, they were already using extensively to work on material for their third studio album.

With the Vans Warped Tour 2008 The Academy Is .. presented the first two new songs About A Girl and Summer Hair = Forever Young before. About A Girl was released on 15 July 2008 on iTunes as a digital single. Summer Hair = Forever Young is the second single from the third album, Fast Times At Barrington High has been published on 18 August 2008.

From 1 October to 23 November 2008 they are headlining their tour Bill & Trav 's Bogus Journey Tour with We The Kings in the U.S. go.

The AP: On 22 September 2009, the band, the EP Lost In Pacific Time published. Until now, with each new album by The Academy Is .. a new sound, which contained more and more alternative and less rock, so it is with Lost In Pacific Time. You hear less and less stand out the electric guitars and also by the different somehow become singing the songs have a much quieter action than the songs of the previous album Fast Times At Barrington High.

Resolution

On 8 October 2011, the band announced its dissolution after 9 years.
