The Association

The Association was an American singing group, was established in 1965 in Los Angeles, USA.

History

In 1966 she received a record contract with Valiant Records and already with their second single Along Comes Mary in July 1966 she had her first top 10 hit. On July 16, 1966, the single reached their highest placing 7th place. The song was not played by some radio stations because Mary could also be interpreted as a shortening of Mary Jane, one of the many trendy synonyms for marijuana. In a highly distorted cover version of the song Bloodhound Gang in 1999 came back into the charts.

1966 and 1967 was followed by millions more sellers: Cherish and Windy / Never My Love. 1967 joined the group to Warner Records. After a final Top 10 hit in early 1968, titled Everything That Touches You, the success of the group were gone and there were some line-up changes. Early 1970s was short Association at Columbia Records, in 1973 they succeeded to the title Names, Tags, Numbers & Labels a final, extremely modest appearance in the U.S. singles charts. 1980 came again the original members (except for the late Brian Cole ) for a short reunion together.
