The Automatic

The Automatic is a Welsh indie rock band from Cowbridge in Cardiff.

Band History

Robin " Rob" Hawkins, James "Frost " Alex " Pennie " and Iwan Griffiths grew up together in Cowbridge, a small Welsh village, on. At 16, Hawkins and frost formed the band White Rabbit. Later Griffiths joined them and eventually completed Pennie the group. Later, nominated by the four in The Automatic.

In 2004, she participated in a studio on their first demos and collared a management contract. The second half of the year she spent in the rehearsal room and worked on new material. Then they toured South Wales and in May 2005 they took with producer Richard Jackson songs Monster and council, and so aroused the interest of indie label B -Unique Records. Two months later signed a record deal The Automatic. In October they went with The Ordinary Boys and Hard-Fi on tour and produced with the assistance of Ian Broudie their debut single, Recover, which, however, only a small success had granted.

End of 2005, the Welsh started to record the debut album Not Accepted Anywhere. The tracks were produced with the help of Richard Jackson in Cardiff and Steve Harris in Liverpool and Lincoln.

In May 2006, she was attended by Boy Kill Boy, ¡ Forward, Russia! and The Long Blondes at the NME New Bands Tour part. On March 27, the second single Raoul, which reached number 32 after all of the UK singles charts followed. The big breakthrough came with her ​​third extraction monster. Published on June 5, climbed the track to position four.

Not Accepted Anywhere came a few days later in the UK stores, peaked at number three in the UK charts and became a hit album. The publication in Germany was canceled by Universal for unknown reasons. In autumn 2006, they released Recover again and this time the song reached position 25 A planned for September Germany tour was postponed because the record label called for new material, but in January 2007 the Welsh brought their canceled gigs in Germany.

In September 2007, keyboardist and founding member Alex Pennie left the band. A month later, the band announced that Paul Mullen, the ex- vocalist of the band Yourcodenameis: milo, will act as the rhythm guitarist of The Automatic.

On 25 August 2008 the second album was released, titled This Is a Fix. The first single from this album is called Steve McQueen.

On 8 March 2010, the third album was released, titled Tear the Signs Down.
