The Black Mages

The Black Mages was a band under the leadership of the Japanese video game music composer Nobuo Uematsu. Her style can be described with extensive keyboard parts essentially as instrumental melodic metal.

Uematsu revised some of his favorite background and particularly struggle pieces from the Final Fantasy games, so they in a newly erected robe on the albums The Black Mages (2003), The Black Mages II - The Skies Above ( 2004) and The Black Mages III - Darkness and Starlight (19 March 2008) were published. The first album was a huge success and sold about 40,000 times. Stylistically occur on the second album, the synth before the stronger electric guitars in the background, what the music can work harder here. Nobuo Uematsu resigned his post at Square Enix to continue to devote his solo projects. The albums have been released only in Japan, but are available through online music platforms in Germany or the USA. On August 7, 2010 Nobuo Uematsu announced that the band had split; however, he would continue to arrange his music with his new band the Earthbound Papas in the rock style again.
