The Box Tops

The Box Tops were a pop group of the second half of the 1960s from Memphis, Tennessee. The group including through the Hits The Letter, Cry Like a Baby and Soul Deep became known. The Letter 1967 was a number - one hit in the U.S. charts. The title has been successfully gecovert later by Joe Cocker. Lead singer of the Box Tops Alex Chilton was, probably died of a heart attack on 17 March 2010 at the age of 59 years.

Career

The history of the Box Tops begins in 1963 in Memphis. At that time called the group still The Devilles. At this time, the members as well as the name changed often. In order to avoid confusion with another band, 1967, the final name of The Box Tops is selected.
