The Castles of Dr. Creep

At The Castles of Doctor Creep is a computer game from 1984, which was written by Edward R. Hobbs for the Commodore 64. It is a platform game in which the player must try to escape the castles of the evil Doctor Creep. This can be done as an individual, as well as a collaborative mission by two players.

Action

The game begins in a room of the castle. With the help of ladders and sliding rods of various platforms can be achieved. Unlike in diverse Jump ' n' Run games the player character jumps can neither run nor fall to deeper levels through holes or the crossing of the platform limit. In each room of the castle there are doors leading to adjacent rooms. Some doors can be opened by pressure switches, others only with different colored keys that have to be found first. The progress in the game is hampered by different objects. These can be: switchable lines, timer-controlled force fields, controllable beam cannons, switchable lightning discharge balls, switchable trap doors, mummies and Frankenstein's monster. In some rooms, there are also teleportation cabins in order to beam at various levels. The different objects are arranged with their switches in the rooms that the player must reveal in the form of a riddle, which switches having to press a while to come on. Often all the rooms of the castle must be traversed in multiple cycles to use the effect of a switch can. This is generally associated with a high cost, if one carries out the mission in Single Player. The aim of the game is finally to open the exit and pass to escape the castle.
