The Charles Bukowski Tapes

The Charles Bukowski Tapes are a collection of short- interviews with the American writer Charles Bukowski, filmed and assembled by Barbet Schroeder and published in 1987 in the United States. The good four-hour video documentary is now considered a cult film.

Action

The Charles Bukowski Tapes are an altogether more than four-hour collection of 52 between one and ten minutes long, by Theme parent short interviews with the American cult author Charles Bukowski. Director Barbet Schroeder (Female, single, young looking ... ) Bukowski interviewed on topics such as alcohol, violence and women. Among other things, Bukowski leads the small camera team through his parents' house and his former neighborhood, the majority of the interviews, however, takes place in Bukowski's home or garden. The most famous scene in the documentary shows a Bukowski violence against his wife Linda Lee.

Genesis

The documentation has been compiled from about 64 hours of footage, which arose in the course of research work during the three-year preparation time for Schroeders motion picture Barfly (1987 ), wrote the autobiographical script for the Bukowski.
