Barbet Schroeder

Barbet Schroeder ( born August 26, 1941 in Tehran, Iran ) is a French film producer of Swiss descent, film director, screenwriter and actor.

He began his career as a producer of films by Éric Rohmer, including The Collector. As a director, Schroeder 1992 internationally famous by the film Female, single, young looking .... Previously, he had helped to Jeremy Irons an Oscar for Reversal of Fortune, where he edited the alleged attempted murder of Sunny von Bulow by her husband, the Danish nobleman Claus von Bülow. Schroeder himself was nominated for his directing Oscar, but had opposite Kevin Costner ( Dances with Wolves ) in the cold. Two of his earlier works are still very good, especially through their music by the English rock band Pink Floyd in memory: the films More - more - more and more ( eponymous soundtrack by Pink Floyd in 1969 ) and La Vallée ( album Obscured by Clouds from the 1972 ).

Brought critical acclaim Schroeder 2007, his documentary L' avocat de la terreur one in which he portrayed the controversial French lawyer Jacques Vergès and it won the 2008 César for Best Documentary. In 2008 he received an invitation to compete in the 65th Film Festival of Venice for the French thriller Inju.
