The Circus is the fifth studio album by British pop band Take That. It was published on 1 December 2008 by Polydor. The album received a gold record in Germany.
Formation
The Circus was released in the UK on the same day, in Germany a day later than Circus by Britney Spears. This was according to a statement the band manager but a coincidence: the band have worked months on the album and the title should not be changed. The fans would ask anyway for the new album of Britney Spears and Take That. The album was recorded with John Shanks in London. The first single a week earlier Greatest Day has already been decoupled, which entered the charts at number 1 in the UK. The second single was in the UK on 2 March 2009 Up All Night, in Germany and other countries followed on 20 March 2009 The Garden. The fourth and fifth were single Said It All and Hold Up A Light. These two appeared at the publication of the later live album The Greatest Day - Take That Presents: The Circus Live.
Criticism
Dani Fromm of Laut.de found the music in comparison with the album title " Circus " too quiet. My impression was: "Softly! Gently Piano, Acoustic Guitar Gently, Gently Hintergrundgewaber, more smooth vocals. "
