The Criterion Collection is a U.S. company that technically high-quality copies of "important classic and contemporary films ", initially on Laserdisc, then DVD and Blu -ray offers for consumers. In English speaking countries the collection enjoys a good reputation among cinephiles due to the wide selection of auteur films.

The company was founded in 1984 as a joint venture between Janus Films and the Voyager Company. Headquartered in New York City. The turnover in 2007 amounted to $ 6,100,000.
