Action
The film depicts the efforts of the 14 -year-old Francis, a student of a Catholic school, with his best friend Tim to assert itself in the early 1970s against boredom in the small town, the hormones and the repressive and unsympathetic teacher.
This, a nun (played by Jodie Foster), use it with two buddies as the opponent for their own superhero comic, and they always develop new ideas, to create resistance by hidden spaces. As Francis fell in love with a mentally unstable girl, escalate the playful revolts.
Description
The film reflects the emotional development of the main character by character sequences of the superheroes. They were drawn by Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn. The young performer can bring the complex and intricate braids impressive people to life. All figures all have their weaknesses and wounds and are desperate to do the right thing, what they ultimately do not always succeed. Even the teacher is ultimately only a person who is denied access to the modern lives of young people. Your physical disability you can see, their mental one suspects. The young people, however, know about the world outside the monastery walls and are therefore torn between the values that are taught and yet seem so old-fashioned and a life on the other hand, represents the psychological demands on them, the convent school does not prepare them to.
Criticism
" As a youth film tells a stroke of luck, the stories about the inner experience. Occupied Consistently excellent, Jodie Foster succeeds as a nun with a prosthetic leg as a surprise. The insightful storytelling, the excellent camera work and the harmonious book that avoids clichés, complete the story. "
