The Dick Van Dyke Show

The Dick Van Dyke Show was an American sitcom that was produced from 3 October 1961 to 1 June 1966 by the CBS. The idea for the show developed Carl Reiner and starring Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore were occupied.

The series gave viewers a humorous insight into the production of a fictional TV show, the Alan Brady Show.

Content

The episodes usually act by Robert Petrie ( Dick Van Dyke ) and his assistant Buddy Sorrell ( Morey Amsterdam) and Sally Rogers (Rose Marie), who write the lyrics for the show. Other episodes describe the married life of Rob with his wife Laura (Mary Tyler Moore).

In the pilot episode from 1960 also producer Carl Reiner played the role of Robert Petrie. Reiner was then entrusted with the role of Alan Brady, the chief Petrie. Within the series Robert Petrie wrote to his memoir about life with his wife Laura and closes it in the series finale. After the memoirs are rejected by publishers, suggests Alan Brady to publish the story as a TV series, with himself in the lead role as Robert Petrie. In this way the circle to the different composition of pilot closes.
