Reception

The Berliner Kurier wrote at the CD release: " Dresden and Soul? Songs of Marvin Gaye or James Brown and a full orchestra? This sounds at first after an overdose of lard. The 100 -member MDR Symphony Orchestra has with soul stars like Joy Dena Lane ( D), Bilal, Dwele and Tweet (all USA) classics like A natural woman 'or' Love train ' recorded. And? Surprise: Dresden Soul "!

The Dresden Latest news was: "For the MDR Orchestra, it was a new frontier [ ... ]. The [ Dresden Soul Symphony ] is now available on CD and DVD and makes enormous good humor. The symphonic ambition remains limited. In the foreground are the strong voices in the background drives a fat bass, and 26 tracks go directly into the legs. "

" All in all 180 contributors provide atmospheric soul -meets- classic sound that's perfect, sometimes almost too perfect, coming over. 22 original songs by Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and others have Larry Gold and Daniel Felsenfeld to Soul Symphony welded - not always in favor of once- existing musical ideas, but effective, "said the Ostthüringer newspaper.
