The Duprees

The Dupree was an American doo-wop vocal group of the early 1960s.

The quintet was found in Jersey City, New Jersey, and initially joined together under the name The Parsians. After first appearances in smaller clubs they came in 1962 to New York. They took part in a talent contest and promptly received a recording contract.

The company changed the band name to The Duprees, as they felt this was by the French touch for more promising. First, they recorded the song " You Belong To Me", which had been already years earlier, a big hit for the singer Jo Stafford. And the new version was a success and million-seller. Their second hit was " My Own True Love" from the movie classic " Gone with the Wind ".

By 1964, repeatedly records appeared, then the lead singer Joe Vann left the group, and faded success.
