The Ferris Wheel (band)

The Ferris Wheel was an English band of the late 1960s, the soul united with psychedelic rock.

Band History

The end of 1966, members of various musical groups joined under the name " The Ferris Wheel" together. Diane Ferraz singer from Trinidad made ​​previously with Nicky Scott, the duo " Diane & Nicky ". The brothers Dave ( sax ) and George Sweetnam ( bass, vocals ) and Barry Reeves (drums) came from the " Checkmates " of the backing group Emile Ford ( Emile Ford and the Checkmates ). Mike Liston (keyboards, vocals) was previously in the band " West Five". The group was rounded out by guitarist Keith Anthony.

Initially they called themselves " Diane Ferraz & the Simon's Triangle ". "Simon" was referring to Simon Napier - Bell, the manager of the group, who had previously cared for Diane & Nicky. The new name was a pun on the family name of the singer, Ferraz, and the first modern Ferris wheel of the American GWG Ferris ( " Ferris Wheel" ).

The band had great success in live performance, but less with their plates. In 1967 the album Can not Break the Habit, from which three singles were released, but of which could no place in the charts. Over time, there have been some line-up changes. So Diane Ferraz withdrew from the music business, for they first came Marsha Hunt, then Linda Lewis. With Lewis the fourth single and the second album was recorded in 1970. Shortly afterwards, the group split up.
