Career

Linda Lewis began her career in show business already as a young girl. So they could be seen, among other things in small roles in the drama A Taste of Honey ( 1961 ) and the Beatles' Adventure A Hard Day 's Night (1964). Without success appeared with You Turned My Bitter Into Sweet in 1967 their debut single on the label, Polydor.

In the 1970s, Lewis worked as a background singer for artists such as David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Al Kooper or the group Family. At the same time she released stylistically very different plates. Her early works for the label Reprise were strongly influenced by the singer-songwriter movement of those years. Also, elements of folk, jazz and pop were processed on the commercially modestly successful albums Say No More (1971 ), Lark (1972 ), Fathoms Deep ( 1973) and Heart Strings (1974). Your first hit could celebrate Lewis 1973: Rock-A- Doodle -Doo reached # 15 in the UK charts.

Two years later, Lewis landed with a disco remake of Betty Everett It's in His Kiss hits her only top 10 hit in the UK ( 6th place). The corresponding LP Not a Little Girl Anymore was the only one of her career, which reached ( number 40 ) the UK charts. With a lushly arranged version of I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You in 1979 Lewis was once again a top 40 hit in the UK land ( 40th place ). With these albums, they drew on their phase at the beginning of the 1970s, as they increasingly came back as a singer / songwriter in appearance.

2007 Lewis worked with the house duo Basement Jaxx. In addition, she appeared in London as part of a tribute concert for Marc Bolan ( T. Rex ).

Lewis is still active as a live artist and worked in 2010, among others with Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher together.

Linda Lewis is the elder sister of singer Shirley Lewis, in 1989 a small hit in the U.S. had ( Realistic, place 84).

It is not to be confused with musician Linda Gail Lewis, sister of Jerry Lee Lewis.
