The Fleshtones

The Fleshtones are an active since 1976 American garage rock band from New York that has its musical roots in rock 'n ' roll of the 50s and 60s.

Band History

1976 founded singer and keyboardist Peter Zaremba, guitarist Keith Streng, bassist January Marek Pakulski, and drummer Bill Milhizer the Fleshtones at the New York City borough of Queens. With the song American Beat it first gained popularity and came to a recording contract with the label IRS Records. Their first EP Up-Front appeared in 1980 and two years later the debut album Roman Gods. So they made it straight into the U.S. album charts. A recorded in 1978 but not released album was nachgeschoben. It was followed by three more albums for IRS, of which Hexbreaker regarded as their best, but they could not repeat the success of the debut. They are mainly known for their concerts and live performances.

Since 1987, the band released more albums regularly with changing labels. In addition, members also had more side projects, such as the Full Time Men by Keith Streng, where REM guitarist Peter Buck played along. In the early days also changed several times the bassist and sometimes included a saxophonist for the line-up. Since 1990 belongs beside Zaremba, Strictly and Milhizer as bassist Ken Fox to fill the four -piece band.
