The Flying Pickets

The Flying Pickets are a British a cappella lineup, which consists of a rotating cast since 1982. Members of a theater formation had fun, well-known to the traveling to new venues songs a cappella singing. So the idea to name itself after the mobile picketing the British miners and perform publicly emerged.

Their first release, Live at the Albany Empire was a live recording of one of their performances. These sold so well that they label Virgin Records in 1983 offered a recording contract. In 1984 were the Flying Pickets with a cover version of the single Only You land a number 1 hit in Germany ( originally by Yazoo ). Already in November 1983 the piece won first place in the singles charts in the UK.

Traditionally, the Flying Pickets five members, at times there were six. 1986 left the band in the first line-up change Brian Hibbard and Red Stripe. Since 1990, with the departure of David Brett not a member of the original cast more here. The band has since been subject to frequent Mitgliederumbesetzungen, but published still new albums and often travel around Europe. The repertoire of the Flying Pickets comprises mostly cover versions and occasionally his own compositions.

At the end of 2012 the bass Andrea Figallo joined the German a cappella group Wise Guys.
