The game of his life ( original title: La partita ) is an Italian film adaptation of Carlo Vanzina for the Cecchi Gori Group production company Tiger Cinematografica from 1988 starring Matthew Modine, Faye Dunaway, Jennifer Beals and Corinne Clery in the lead roles. The film is based on the novel La partita by Alberto Ongaro.
Action
Venice at the beginning of the Rococo in the XVIII century. Francesco Sacredo, a young aristocratic hothead just returned fresh from his exile in Corfu in the lagoon city, trying to regain possession of his father, by all means, the latter has lost once in the game at the German Countess von Wallenstein.
Francesco, once determined to help his father, played even with the highest bet - his own life as a pledge.
