The Graham Bond Organisation

The Graham Bond Organization ( GBO ) was an English band that combined jazz and blues. Jack Bruce and Graham Bond founded the band in 1963 in London. In addition to Bond ( vocals, keyboards and alto saxophone ) and Bruce ( bass) was the first band from John McLaughlin (guitar) and Ginger Baker (drums). After John McLaughlin left the band, Dick Heckstall -Smith ( sax ) joined the lineup.

Later Jon Hiseman Ginger Baker replaced on drums when he formed the band Cream with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. The Graham Bond Organization can therefore also be regarded as a forerunner of bands like Cream or Colosseum. In the active period of the band, this took several albums. 1966 sparked Bond to the group. Later, other recordings have been published after the former members were known in the field of progressive rock and fusion.

Despite its British origins, the Graham Bond Organization was always on the American spelling, such as saxophonist Dick Heckstall -Smith has noted repeatedly in interviews: " ... with a ' z', please. " ( German: " ... with a, z ' please "). the name was but often erroneously written on the contemporary record covers of the band with s, and this error was committed even in the later CD releases. Thus, the English company BGO brought the CD The Sound Of '65 / There's A Bond Between Us with two different covers on the market - only misspelled, then corrected.
