The Hacker's Diet

The Hacker's Diet is a diet book by John Walker, founder of Autodesk. Walker, who has professionally nothing to do with medicine or food science, describes the book itself as a " diet book by someone who has spent most of his life overweight ."

Walker addresses the problem of engineering terms. The first chapters of the book describe weight gain as imbalance between energy intake and expenditure. This imbalance must be remedied with software support (where it is also possible to perform the necessary calculations without software support). Other chapters describe feedback mechanisms and signal processing, and finally the diet itself, a simple count of calories consumed, combined with a simplified version of the training program 5BX, which was developed by the Royal Canadian Air Force. The work ends with extensive calorie charts.

John Walker apparently succeeded to decrease with his method within one year from 98 kg to 65 kg, and then to keep his weight stable.
