The House of Yes

Who's afraid of Jackie -O. ? ( The House of Yes ) is an American comedy film directed by Mark Waters from the year 1997. The plot is based on the play " The House of Yes " by Wendy MacLeod.

Action

Marty Pascal studied in 1983 in New York City. He is engaged to the waitress Lesly.

Marty takes his fiancée as he to his family Thanksgiving in Washington DC visited. There Lesly learns his twin sister Jackie know who is fascinated by the former U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Jackie mocks Lesly by asking them for their home state of Pennsylvania. It raises questions about the nature, whether there were paintings in Pennsylvania. Then Jackie gets hysterical when the ice go out for drinks.

The electric light is off, it will be lit candles. The mother of Jackie and Marty goes to sleep. She says she can anticipate where the conversation would lead.

It turns out that Marty and Jackie in the past had an incestuous relationship. Jackie holds incest for normal and wants to renew the relationship. It comes to the act of love between Jackie and Marty in the presence of Lesly.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the comedy " black" and " occasionally disturbing " was, yet it was " funny ". Berardinelli praised the representations of Josh Hamilton, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Tori Spelling.

Roger Ebert praised in the Chicago Sun - Times October 17, 1997, the " wise " and " concise " dialogue and the presentation of Parker Posey.

Awards

Parker Posey won in 1997 a special prize at the Sundance Film Festival; Mark Waters was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Mark Waters was also nominated in 1997 for the Gold Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival and for a price of Deauville Film Festival.

Parker Posey was nominated in 1998 for a Golden Satellite Award. Tori Spelling was in 1998 nominated for the Golden Raspberry.
