The Insect Trust

The Insect Trust was a rock group that was founded in 1966 in Memphis (Tennessee). Her musical trademark was a psychedelic mixture of progressive rock, jazz, folk, blues and rock and roll, the similarities with Fairport Convention, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane had.

Original members of the band were the singer Nancy Jeffries, Bill Barth ( guitar), Luke Faust ( banjo, fiddle, harmonica ), Robert Palmer (clarinet / alto saxophone ) and Trevor Koehler (saxophone). The band's name was derived from the literature magazine The Insect Trust Gazette.

The Insect Trust took during the short period of its existence two albums:

  • The Insect Trust ( 1969) and
  • Hoboken Saturday Night (1970).

From her saxophone player Bob Palmer the highly respected music critic Robert Palmer, singer Nancy Jeffries later became a major record companies as manager at A & M, Virgin and Elektra.
