The Jazz Showcase

The Jazz Showcase is a jazz club in Chicago, which has existed since 1947.

The Jazz Showcase was founded in 1947 by Joe Segal. He had previously organized during his studies at Roosevelt University Jam Sessions in the Altgeld Hall. In the club since concerted inter alia, Chris Potter, Frank Morgan, Danilo Perez, Larry Coryell, Paul Wertico, James Carter, Ira Sullivan, Winard Harper, Sun Ra, McCoy Tyner, Dexter Gordon and Bunky Green. The Jazz Showcase concert recordings as well as Ahmad Jamal's trio album Chicago Revisited created (1992). After he had initially been in the Rush Street district, often changed the location of the Veranstaltungsortes.So he was from 1970 in the North Lincoln Avenue, from 1980 to 1995 at the Renaissance Blackstone Hotel; from 1996, corner Clark Street and Grand Avenue; Since 2008 Plymouth Ct in South Plymouth Court is housed in the former Dearborn Station in the 806 S., the son of Wayne Segal designed in 2008.
