The Light Fantastic

The Light Fantastic is a novel by Terry Pratchett, the second Discworld novel and the second, which tells the stories of Rincewind. He was released in 1986. The English title, " The Light Fantastic " is a quote from a poem by John Milton and describes in the original context the loose, fancy dancing.

The events of the novel are the direct continuation of the first novel, The Color of Magic. It is so far the only real continuation of a story as part of the Discworld novels.

Action

The book builds on the cliffhanger from the end of the color of magic. With a complete redesign of the reality Rincewind and Twoflower from the bottom of the Discworld are put into a magical forest on the surface. Cause of this serious engagement is the need to include all eight spells of the octave at the right time, namely, when the United A'Tuin proceeds to reproduction, to pronounce.

One of the eight sayings has been, established years ago in Rincewind's head. He is not lost in space, engages the octave. Almost as collateral damage of this intervention, the Librarian of the Unseen University is transformed into an orangutan. Hunted by power-hungry magicians, accompanied by the aged Cohen the Barbarian and with some side trips to the multidimensionality get Rincewind and Twoflower, the right time, at the Art Tower of the University. The eight spells are intoned and saved the Discworld before sinking. Then Twoflower decides to return home. As a parting gift he leaves Rincewind his suitcases of intelligent pear wood - chest.
