The Listener (TV series)
The Listener is a Canadian mystery series, set in Toronto. The series revolves around the young paramedic Toby Logan, who has telepathic abilities.
Action
Toby is a 25 year old paramedic, who grew up in orphanages. Toby has kept his ability secret until today and only Dr. Ray Mercer, his old confidant and counselor, she already knew at the time before the first episode. While driving with his partner Osman "Oz" Bey of Toronto, Toby helps different people through their crises and also attempted to explore his own past. He also gets help from Detective Charlie Marks and his ( ex ) girlfriend Olivia Fawcett, an emergency room doctor, at a clinic in Toronto.
Characters
Toby Logan
Toby ( Craig Olejnik ) is 25 years old, does not know his father, remembers only fragments of his mother and grew up in orphanages. He is a paramedic for a year and can read the thoughts of other people, which he initially regarded as a curse. Over time - even before the first episode - but he learned to shield themselves against the thoughts of others. During the first season, however, he recognizes that he can also help people with this ability and looks at it from there as a gift and not a curse.
Osman "Oz" Bey
Oz, a 26 year old Turk, is the best friend of Toby, also paramedic and his partner with the emergency service. He is - in the time that playing the first season - the first to the Toby reveals his gift.
Det Charlie Marks
Charlie is a police officer in the homicide. She is the second person of Toby shows his skills and is available to him and his administration initially critical of, but later the two help each other. At the end of the first season, it protects and Toby is shot there. In the first episode of the second season it is mentioned that they did not survive the shot.
Sgt Michelle McCluskey
Michelle is also a police officer and works at IIB. In the second episode Toby tells her that he can read minds and help her from now on more cases to be elucidated. In addition, Michelle tells her partner that Toby can read minds.

Production
The series was conceived by Michael Amo and produced by Shaftesbury Films for the Canadian station CTV. Production began in spring 2008.
On 17 November 2009 it was announced that there will be a second season with 13 new episodes. With the production of this series was started in September 2010. The second season was broadcast on 8 February 2011 to 31 August 2011 on the Canadian station CTV. On 1 June 2011 a third season with 13 new episodes was commissioned, whose charisma was seen from 30 May 2012 to September 12, 2012 on CTV. On July 25, 2012 CTV gave the order The Listener to a fourth season with 13 episodes to extend further, which could be seen from 29 May 2013 as the Canadian Air Date. The reason the transmitter stated that the third season had already achieved the highest audience of the series history. With 1.14 million Canadian viewers thus results solely in comparison to the second season, an increase of 14 percent. Compared to the first season, the increase would be even 28 percent. On October 7, 2013 CTV announced the production of a fifth season known which will consist of 13 episodes again.
