The Mountain (1991 film)

The mountain is a Swiss film director Markus Imhoof from the year 1990. The film drama based on the true tragedy of the double murder of the weather station- married couple Henry and Lena Haas of 1922 on the Santis.

Action

1922, at the time of the act, a meteorological observer must spend with supplies on the 2500 meter high Santis throughout the winter alone. During the long winter, he is cut off from the rest of the world and contact with the outside world, there is only about the telegraph poles. After a tragic accident of the previous weather warden Jetzler, which is crazy, the lonely weather station is now to be occupied by a couple. Joseph Manser is unemployed and married shortly the pregnant Lena, to get the items. Gregor Kreuzpointner, a former k.u.k. Officer with combat experience in the Dolomites, feels betrayed by Manser. He ventured out the first winter of the mountain, to prove to the world that the post actually deserves. He reached the summit, where it inevitably comes to a fight to the death between the men and the woman.

Awards

The mountain was in competition at the Berlinale in 1991 and was nominated for the Golden Bear. In the Trento Film Festival he won the 1st prize.
