The Mouths of Madness

Formation and style

The album was produced and mixed by vocalist Theo Mindell and Will Storkson. Storkson played a musician as an additional keyboards, synthesizers and percussion. The Mouths of Madness emerged in the Hyde St. Studios in San Francisco, the Laughing Tiger Studios in San Rafael and the Capricorn Studios in Novato, all in California. All the music is from the band, the lyrics of Mindell. Also, the artwork was done by Mindell. The style of the album was as compared to Black Sabbath, but the band also allowed for other influences, such as similar to a harmonica use in Marching Dogs of War, the Roadhouse Blues by The Doors, or the piano accompanied bar blues in Mountains of Steel, which was also compared with Down.

After the band had played as the opening act and with less stylistically matching bands in the U.S. to date, they went after a tour with Witchcraft in May 2013 for the first time at a major concert at the Rock Hard Festival.

Reception

The album debuted at # 18 in the German album charts. In the magazine Rock Hard, the album was album of the month. Thomas Copper awarded 8.5 out of 10. He wrote that the band do not try to copy the success of the debut. The motto loud " less Sabbath, more experiments," the band make this " hell of a lot right."
