The Norman Conquests

Norman conquests ( in the original: The Norman Conquests ) is a written in 1973 by Alan Ayckbourn trilogy of stage plays. There are only six persons, namely Norman, his wife Ruth, her brother Reg and his wife Sarah, Ruth's sister Annie and Tom, Annie's neighbor. The pieces are at times very funny and at times quite sharp in their representation of the relationships between six more or less unfortunate people.

Each of the three pieces shows the same six figures on the same weekend in another room of a house. " Table Manners " plays in the dining room, " Home Sweet Home " in the living room and " The Garden " in the garden. Each piece is complete in itself, and they can be viewed in any order. Some scenes overlap, and in some places corresponds to the departure of an actor in one of the pieces with the appearance in another. However, the pieces are not meant to be listed at the same time - although Ayckbourn exactly the transposed 25 years later.

The pieces were premiered in Scarborough and then one season in London played with a cast of Tom Courtenay as Norman, Penelope Keith as Sarah, Felicity Kendal as Annie and Michael Gambon as Tom.
