The Orlons

The Orlons were an American vocal group that was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania founded in the early 1960s.

The members of the group were formed already at high school and initially consisted of six members. However, after a few performances, they lost interest. A little later, Shirley Brickley and Steve Caldwell decided to call the group back to life. They brought Marlena Davis, Rosetta Hightower and back together. The band first played in constant pre-program a group called The Cashmeres - and hence the group name good fit together, they began calling themselves The Orlons.

Later The Dovells and their lead singer Len Barry were mediated the Orlons first record contract from the Cashmeres. Their first single was released in 1960, was called I'll Be True - and was a flop. The big success came in 1962 with the song The Wah Watusi (U.S. # 2 ). By 1964, the Orlons were successful, then they disappeared from the charts. Shirley Brickleys sister Jean still occurs today under the name Orlons on, Steve Caldwell was manager and music producer.
