Biography

The group is 1962 by Winston Hewitt and brothers Sydney and Derrick Crooks (born 24 February 1945 Westmorland, Jamaica ) founded, Hewitt, however, soon replaced by Glen Adams. Their first single " Some Time " they take in 1965, still in the ska era, for the producer Leslie Kong. In the occupation of Sydney Crooks / Jackie Robinson take the Pioneers in 1967 for producer Joe Gibbs with "Gimme A Little Loving" their first single, which is expected to reach # 1 in the Jamaican singles chart. Also a top hit is " Long Shot", a song about the successes of a famous Jamaican racehorse. At this time, the ska has changed to rocksteady and should soon pass into the reggae. Desmond Dekker's younger half- brother George Dekker ( born October 17, 1946 also known as George Agard or Johnny Melody ), joins the group, so that it is again a trio. Go to producer Leslie Kong and take it "Easy Come Easy Go", another number- one hit on. 1969 follows her perhaps most famous song, " Long Shot Kick De Bucket ". It is the sequel to " Long Shot" and tells the story of how the race horse was killed along with another horse called Combat in a competition in Caymanas Park in Kingston. The single will be played in the UK and eventually reached number 21 of the local charts.

In this and the following year, the group is at its artistic peak.
