The Pit and the Pendulum is a horror film from the year 1961. Directed by Roger Corman. The film is based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe entitled The Pit and the Pendulum.

Action

Don Nicholas Medina ( Vincent Price ) lives in a boldly situated on a cliff top castle in Spain in the 16th century. As a child he had to watch as his father tortured his mother and the still living einmauerte in a grave - as punishment for her adultery. He also mourns the sudden death of his own wife Elizabeth (Barbara Steele ). The film begins with the visit of the brother of Elizabeth, Francis ( John Kerr), the death of his sister on some feel uncomfortable. He soon finds himself embroiled in an intriguing story, in which the old torture chamber of the castle played an important role.
