The Poison is the debut album released in 2005 the Welsh metalcore band Bullet for My Valentine. It was recorded from March to June, 2005 in The Chapel ( Lincolnshire ), the Backstage Studios and the Notting Pill Studios. On 3 October 2005, the album was in the UK ( Visible Noise Records), released on January 30, 2006 in Japan and in February of the same year in the U.S. ( Trustkill Records). Publish in Europe the album was produced by Sony BMG. Producer of the album is Colin Richardson. In 2006, the album was re- recorded and released. The album peaked in the UK the "Silver " and in the U.S. the " Gold Record ".

Singles

For the album appeared four singles. The first 4 Words (To Choke Upon ) was published on 28 March 2005. This single is also included on the American EP of the band, which is called Hand of Blood. The second single for the album is called Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow ( What Can I Do) and was released on September 19 of the same year. The song was recorded three times on different CDs, and can be heard in the film Saw III. This single reached the 37th place in the UK singles chart. The third single was released on 3 February 2006 and is called All These Things I Hate ( Revolve Around Me ). The single was also released as a mini -EP, containing five songs and a music video. The single reached the 13th place of the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks ( Billboard ) and the 30th place of the Hot Modern Rock Tracks ( also Billboard ). The final extraction was published on 23 June 2006 and is called Tears Do not Fall. The single also learned several publications, including a double disc, a 7- Vinyl -EP and EP as a normal CD ( released in Germany. Too Tears Do not Fall is in the Hot Mainstream Rock Track Charts ( 24th place ) and the hot Modern Rock tracks ( 32nd place ) represented.

  • In the alternate version of the song Spit You Out was replaced by Hand of Blood.
  • The U.S. re-release includes five bonus tracks: " 7 Days ", "My Fist, Your Mouth, Her Scars" and "Welcome Home ( Sanitarium ) ² 'hot and the acoustic versions of the songs " Tears Do not Fall " and " Domination " ( Pantera Cover).
  • The British version of the new release has just four bonus songs ( also 7 Days and My Fist, Your Mouth, Her Scars ), and two live versions of the songs Spit You Out and All These Things I Hate ( Revolve Around Me ).
  • ² Welcome Home is a cover version of Metallica.

Charts

After the EP Bullet for My Valentine was quite successful, could have guessed that even the short time later announced debut album will be very successful. So not only the album, but also the singles reached some several charts in several countries. While the singles reached an official chart position exclusively in Germany and the UK, the album managed several chart entries even in Austria and the USA.
