The Polecats

The Polecats ( in German: " The Polecats " ) are a new wave and rockabilly revival band of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Band History

Originally the band with Tim Worman was (aka Tim Polecat, vocals), Martin " Boz " Boorer (guitar and vocals), occupied Phil Bloomberg (bass ) and Chris Hawkes (drums) and performed under the name Cult Heroes. After they had gone through their " to punky -sounding name of" first difficulties to find a promoter who was willing to promote it as a rockabilly band, they eventually changed their band name to a proposal of the drummer to Hawkes in The Polecats. Hawkes was later replaced by Neil Rooney.

The band was taken from the fledgling British rockabilly label Iabel Nervous Records and in 1980 released the single " Rockabilly Guy ".

In 1981, the polecats of Mercury Records got signed and released their most successful LP, " Polecats Are Go! ". The band landed in the charts of the United Kingdom with "John, I'm Only Dancing ", a revised version of " Rockabilly Guy ", and a cover of the T. Rex song " Jeepster ". "John, I'm Only Dancing " was at the same time on the charts as the second single by rockabilly colleagues Stray Cats "Rock This Town ".

In the United States, the Polecats ended in 1983, their only hit, " Make A Circuit With Me". This song could not manage their way into the British charts. The recording contract was subsequently terminated; nevertheless, the band released several albums, which compared to " Polecats Are Go! " but always a few finishing touches. One of the albums was titled " Cult Heroes" and contained a collection of demo recordings from the early phase of the band.

Guitarist Martin Boorer initially left the band to work as a guitarist, musical director and co-songwriter with Morrissey, however, led a 1989 reunion of the Polecats in the ways that produced then a live and a studio album. Tim Polecat moved to Los Angeles and played with Slim Jim ( Stray Cats ) in a band called " 13 Cats". Appeared in 2001 on the label Raucous Records a collection of Martin Boorers works under the title " Between The Polecats ".

The Polecats tour occasionally until today by Europe and Japan and continue to publish albums, now with John Buck on drums.
