The wife of the police is a German drama by Philip Gröning that was in August 2013 premiered in competition at the 70th International Film Festival of Venice and there won the Special Jury Prize.

Christine Perkinger moved with her husband Uwe and the small, four -year-old Clara in a small town. Uwe is a policeman with heart and soul, he throws himself into the new job and voluntarily accepts each layer in order to procure for the small family money to " get ahead " as he always says.
Christine is much alone with Clara. This sometimes leads to tensions with Uwe, who seems to be working more and more. Christine takes a lot during the day with Clara and their childlike enthusiasm for the new big world out there and Christine puts more and more. Together with Clara she searches for the " animal houses " - has since seen Clara on the playground a mole, she wants to visit all the animals in their homes. Christine and Clara search the homes of rabbits, ducks, mice, and birds as well as the fox. For the little Clara a huge world that seems to be endless: the playgrounds with the other children, the foreign houses. A small town can be a universe, a single block one world. Clara's enthusiasm and joy of each day new world is Christine.
And at other times again the young woman feels very alone in a small, strange town. Christine misses her husband. She has the feeling that all the work changed him that he takes his official problems with home. Even Uwe has the feeling that he misses something that her mother Clara is closer than him. Production and background
Filming lasted from 11 April to 19 June 2010. Was shot in the city Münsterland wage, which is close to the Dutch border and in the vicinity. Philip Groening sketched in his film The wife of the policeman on a gentle way, the perspective of a small child on the small and big changes introduced by the relocation of a family with him.
