The Renegade Ranger is an American western from 1938 starring George O'Brien and Rita Hayworth in the lead roles.

Action

The young farm owner Judith Alvarez is accused of murdering a dubious tax collectors. A corrupt political entrepreneurs of the region named Ben Sanderson however, is found actually behind the murder. With Judith's arrest, he expects the rival to the farmland to clear out of the way. To his surprise, it succeeds Judith's loyal followers to break her out of prison.

Captain Jack Steele, a Texas Ranger, and the young hothead Larry Corwin be authorized to take in the troubled region for law and order. On the hunt for Judith Captain Steele is violated. But instead of leaving him to his fate, the young farmer takes him to live with him and supplied his wounds. With a small party in which dancing Steele and Judith together, he comes to the conclusion that Judith is innocent. And so he decides to bring the really responsible for the murder behind bars. Background

Rita Hayworth, who was loaned for this movie by Columbia Pictures to RKO Pictures is said to have later told a reporter that she had experienced the worst moment in her career on the set of The Renegade Ranger, as they armed in a scene with two turrets on a wild Mustang had to ride off. However, their uncertainty and pathological fear of horses do not mind one of their performances.
