The Rivingtons

The Rivingtons was founded in California in the United States, Doo -wop vocal group of the 1950s and early 1960s.

Band History

Before the vocal group renamed the end of the 1950s in The Rivingtons, the group members had already occurred several years together under various other names. During this time, some changes also took place in the cast. The group met, among others, as The Sharps and headed end of the 1950s to several recordings of guitarist Duane Eddy background vocals on, among other things, to its Hit Rebel Rouser of 1958. On the single blue - Wile Deveest -Fontaine of the young Paul Anka from 1956 the later Rivingtons members are listed as the Jacks.

Your own first hit had The Rivingtons Papa - Oom with the piece - Mow - Mow, the single reached number 48 in 1962 the U.S. charts. The lyrics basically consists of repetitions of the onomatopoeic nonsense words of the song title, so used onomatopoeia as a stylistic device. The following year, the single The Bird 's the Word has been released. More recordings by The Rivingtons could not connect to the success of the first singles.

In 1963, the surf rock band The Trashmen, the two singles Papa - Oom- Mow - Mow and The Bird 's the Word is used as the basis for their hit single, Surfin 'Bird, the number four on the Billboard Hot 100 reached. The first edition of the single pointed Trashmen than authors of the piece; after legal action by The Rivingtons these have been specified on later pressings of the single Trashmen as composers.
