The Road Warriors

Road Warriors was the name of a wrestling tag team consisting of Michael Hegstrand and Joseph Laurinaitis. Under this name, they both appeared in most leagues, such as the AWA, the NWA and WCW.

Development

Were once part of the Road Warriors Stables Legion of Doom, but after migration of the other members this term curtailed to the Road Warriors. So they were finally announced with the following words: The Legion of Doom, Hawk and Animal - The Road Warriors. In the WWF (now WWE) they ended up using only the name Legion of Doom ( LOD).

Hallmark of the team were the ones known from the American Football shoulder pads, which were provided with thorns, as well as, at that time in the American Wrestling revolutionary face painting and hairstyles. The team members were known for their deliberate no- selling and very hard executing their actions, which sometimes also gave rise to the complaint by other wrestlers. Nevertheless, the team was able to a popular with the fans and the resulting successful ascend of their time. The Road Warriors dominated virtually from its beginning to the tag team scene in the period between 1983 and 1992., Even after 1992, the Road Warrios were still a team that always attracted spectators. They were also the model later date as teams like the Powers of Pain, Demolition in the WWF.

After Hegstrand died of a heart attack in 2003, it gave Laurinaitis with Jon Heidenreich a new tag team partner, with whom he was (under the name LOD 2005) WWE Tag Team Champion. However, the fans rejected this new edition and 2006, Heidenreich was released, so that the separation of the tag team was sealed. Rumors about a LOD 2006 with Matt Hardy could not be confirmed and so Animal was at the Royal Rumble and be seen shortly thereafter as a single wrestler. In the meantime, however, he was dismissed due to lack of storylines of the WWE.

On 2 April 2011, the Road Warriors were recorded with her long-time manager Paul Ellering in the WWE Hall of Fame.
