The Ronettes

The Ronettes were a female vocal trio from New York City, which in the early 1960s had some hits in the U.S. and the UK. Her best-known piece is Be My Baby.

History

The sisters Ronnie and Estelle Bennett and Nedra Talley had her cousin in 1959 their first joint appearances, won a talent contest and were regularly on stage, then still as Darling Sisters. Soon, record companies were aware of them, and in 1961 they released their first single. Shortly after, they changed their name into The Ronettes, derived from Ronnie Bennett.

1963 did the collaboration with the famous producer Phil Spector. Powered by a proven team of authors Jeff Barry / Ellie Greenwich he wrote them with Be My Baby a highly successful single, which he produced in the style of his famous "Wall of Sound". With the song the girl trio landed both in the U.S. and in the UK charts' front places.

Five singles in a row landed in the Top 40 on the U.S. charts, and four of them also placed in the UK. The album ... Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica could see it in the charts not as successful, but was later elected at number 427 of the 500 best albums of all times of the Rolling Stone magazine. Even the album title Veronica " Ronnie " Bennett was placed in the foreground, and in the publications from 1965 it was noted in the band's name. But the following singles did not meet the expectations. After both Estelle Bennett Nedra Talley and married in 1966, finally came the end for the group. 1968 Ronnie Bennett married Phil Spector, but the marriage lasted only six years.

Ronnie Spector continued her musical career continued with changing success. In 1973 she was briefly with two other singers as Ronnie and the Ronettes on the way, but made solo career with his own recordings, backing vocals and accompaniment by Bruce Springsteen and 1986 by Eddie Money, with whom she grossed whose biggest hit Take Me Home Tonight.

The Ronettes were incorporated into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and three years later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Music

The first two singles of the Ronettes were made late 60s by Andy Kim popular in Germany, the Baby, I Love You also brought in the U.S. at number 5.

Be My Baby but remains their most popular song by far. It was included in the list of 500 most influential rock songs of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Many artists took the song into their repertoire, including the Bay City Rollers, Shaun Cassidy, Rachel Sweet, Linda Ronstadt, Melissa Etheridge, Brian Wilson and Bates.

I Can Hear Music in 1966 was her last chart hit. It was three years later covered by the Beach Boys and a hit in the UK.
