The Selecter
The Selecter ( Jamaican English for DJ) is an English ska band that was founded in 1979 in Coventry. It belongs alongside bands such as The Specials, Madness, Bad Manners and The Beat on the second wave of ska, which are attributed to the so-called 2- Tone ska.

Band History
The Selecter was established in 1979 by The Specials drummer John Bradbury stumbled into life. Bradbury needed a B-side for the first single of the specials. To fill it, he took along with keyboardist Desmond Brown, the two guitarists Neol Davis and Kevin Harrison, as well as a studio musician named Steve on bass, the song "The Selecter " on the on the single simply an eponymous (up to date, however that does not exist ) band has been attributed. After the plate was a top 10 hit, Brown and Davis recruited other musicians to fill the " band" with life. These were initially: Pauline Black, Charley Anderson, Compton Amanour, Charley 'H' Bembridge and Arthur " Gaps" Hendrickson.
They entered into an agreement with the 2 Tone record label of specials - head Jerry Dammers. Their follow-up single "On My Radio" (actually, yes the debut single ) also made it into the top ten. The soon released LP "Too Much Pressure" climbed to number 5 on the LP charts. Until mid-1981 published The Selecter still an LP and four more singles, then they parted in 1982. Pauline Black brought out several solo singles and later became a TV presenter.
1992 The Selecter founded again and since then tours regularly across the U.S., Canada, Japan and Europe.
Since 2003, Pauline Black and Nick Welsh tours as Acoustic Selector and published the two plates " Unplugged for the Rudeboy Generation" and " Requiem for a Black Soul ".
