The Slackers

The Slackers is an American ska band from New York, which was founded in 1991.

Band History

The band was founded in New York in 1991. Their first album, Better Late Than Never was released in 1996 on Moon Records. The following year, the band signed a contract with Hellcat Records.

In 2000 was her first live album Live at Ernesto's. She is now an established name in the ska scene, the band regularly tours through Europe and the United States and is considered by fans to be an excellent live band.

The band was formed in the wake of the third wave ska, which emerged in the 1980s. Musically the band is based on authentic ska from Jamaica.

Singles and EPs

Most of albums have been released on Hellcat Records, a sub- label of Epitaph Records. Better Late than never originally appeared on the New York label Moon Ska Records (currently exists which only the European branch Moon Ska Europe. Labelhead and singer of the New York band The Toasters Robert "Bucket " Hingley but with Megalith Records long ago a new record company opened ). Already for the second regular studio album Redlight changed the Slackers then (as well as some other bands, such as the Pietasters ) to the West Coast to Tim Armstrong's label Hellcat. There, the other regular studio albums released. The 2008 published washer Self Medication appeared surprisingly Indication Records and in Europe moanin ' (LP on Special Potato Records). The last album The Radio released in the U.S. under the label Whatevski in Europe again in moanin ' and in Japan the label Ska In The World with a different order of the pieces under the title Ganbare (Japanese: Just do your best ). The volume concludes, however, expressly a future collaboration with Tim Armstrong Hellcat and not from.
