The Speed Kings is an American silent film directed by Wilfred Lucas from the year 1913. He also ran under the alternative title The Speed Kings Tetzlaff and Earl Cooper.
Action
Mabel loves racing Teddy Tetzlaff, known as the " Speed King ", while her father the "Speed Demon", racing driver Earl Cooper, has selected as a future husband. Her father wants to prevent Teddy wins taking place every shortly auto racing, he manipulates his car.
Mabel and her father go to the car race that turns into a duel between Teddy and Earl after many rounds. Mabel and her father also support their respective favorites loudly and Mabel finally rushes during the race enthusiastically to the track where it is retained by the corpulent race director. There is therefore a conflict of race director and Mabel's father.
The race eventually wins Earl since Teddy shortly before race end has a breakdown. Mabel's father Earl spontaneously promises his daughter's hand, but is attacked shortly afterwards by the race director. Both men are finally so engrossed in their duel that Mabel may go unnoticed drive off with Teddy.
Production
The recordings for The Speed Kings took place in Santa Monica. The film was released on 30 October 1913.
In the film can be seen with Teddy Tetzlaff, Earl Cooper and Barney Oldfield three well-known racers of its time. Tetzlaffs name is created incorrectly stated in the intertitles of the film as Tetzlaft.
