The Story of Perrine

Perrine (Japaneseペリーヌ 物語, Perīnu monogatari, literally story about Perrine ) is an anime television series based on the novel En Famille by the French writer Hector Malot. As part of the World Masterpiece Theater series the animation studio Nippon Animation, the series was released in 1978 in Japan and was later marketed internationally.

The story takes place in the 19th century at the time of the Industrial Revolution in France.

Action

After her father died in Bosnia, the girl Perrine lives with his mother in a cart pulled by a donkey. The two are poor. Accompanied by her dog Baron they want in the city Maraucourt (France ) to there Perrine's paternal grandfather to find a factory owner. This does not agree with his daughter, Perrine's mother because she is not French, but ( semi) Indian. He broke off all contact with the family.

On the journey the mother falls ill and dies in Paris. The girl needs further deny travel alone and sold during this the donkey. As Perrine arrives at their destination, they are not visible, since her grandfather still despised Perrine and her mother. She takes a job as a translator at the factory since their blind grandfather. The grandfather can search in spite of his aversion to the Indian roots of his daughter for his son, because he is already old and wants to transfer the factory to his son. Through this research, he learns of the death of his son and his wife. It turns out that the translator is his granddaughter.

At the end of the story the grandfather can operate in order to regain his sight and to see his granddaughter.

Formation and Publications

Nippon Animation produced 53 episodes of 25 minutes. Directed by Shigeo Koshi. In the first 29 episodes of him Hiroshi Saitō stood to the side. Saitō was responsible together with others for the storyboard of the anime, while Shuichi Seki designed the character design. The title song Perrine Monogatari and the guy Kimagure Baron sang Kumiko Osugi.

The 53 episodes ran 1 January to 31 December 1978, Fuji TV for the first time on Japanese television. The series enjoyed, like most World Masterpiece Theater series, in Japan very popular. It was released on VHS and DVD.

The series also appeared in Spanish, Italian and German synchronization. The German version was the first time 1 January to 21 February 1985 at Sat.1. This consists of only 52 episodes, rather than as in the original Japanese cut together from 53 Episodes 40, 41 and 42 were used in the version for two episodes. That same year she also ran into Austria.

KSM licensed the series in 2008 in order to publish it on DVD.
