The Sugarhill Gang

The Sugarhill Gang is an American hip hop band from Englewood, New Jersey, compiled by Sylvia Robinson, the director of the Sugar Hill label. Members are Big Bank Hank, Wonder Mike and Master Gee.

Published in 1979, the Sugar Hill Gang song Rapper's Delight. The single was an international success, which showed that hip-hop had a commercial potential and the young music so opened the doors of the recording industry. The piece is based on the disco song Good Times of the band Chic in the cover of the group Positive Force.

The Sugarhill Gang had a small cameo appearance in the first episode of the fourth season ( my psychiatrist ) in the American television series Scrubs - The Beginners.
