The Sword Project
The Sword Project ( SP ) is supported by the Crosswire Bible Society, and aims to develop a free, platform-independent C library and provide biblical text and biblical texts as close to plug-in.
The Sword Project is not a finished program, but provides the basis ( an API to German programming, also called Software Framework) for programs to develop them quickly. The text libraries that can be incorporated as a plugin, are structured using XML, so that they offer the programs that build on a defined interface. The The Sword Project provides over 200 texts as plugins ready, including Bibles, Bible commentaries, dictionaries and books in 50 languages.
Use of The Sword Project in a program is done by access to libraries by library classes are instantiated, a translation of the Bible or a Bible commentary represent, for example.
The Sword Project was written to 54 % in C , 31% C, 7% XML and 8% in other programming languages , and consists of almost 630,000 lines of code.
